We promise an informative, dynamic, and demo-rich session - you won’t be disappointed!
“Serverless” computing describes the latest wave of (cloud-) application platform technologies, where the complete responsibility for running and scaling the platform infrastructure hosting the application code is taken on by a cloud provider. The greatest upside of “serverless” platforms is that they provide an architectural harness that enables more developers to build highly scalable applications, and ready-made tooling to operate them. Serverless apps are increasingly interconnected with eventing and messaging infrastructures that take care of robust, high-scale data flows into and between app services and functions. In this talk, Clemens Vasters, Messaging Architect at Microsoft and standards architect working on OASIS AMQP and CNCF CloudEvents, will discuss the role of events and messaging in “serverless” and how the combination enables “the extensible enterprise” – enabling businesses to rapidly build and run extensions to their core application portfolios with minimal complexity.
Reactive programming has changed the way we develop user experiences and now it will change the way we develop cloud applications with cross service, cross cloud, and cross organization capabilities. This session will dive deep into Azure Event Grid and showcase common use cases and provide a roadmap for where we see this service going.

Come and learn insider secrets on how Logic Apps works behind the scenes and why it is the true serverless integration platform as a service (iPaaS) you can rely on for all your integration needs. In this session, we'll discuss how workflows are distributed and executed at massive scale backed by Azure, as well as the efforts put in place to ensure the service is always performant, scalable, and reliable.
Integration comes with different shape and forms. Come and learn tried-and-true workflow patterns, best practises, tips and tricks to help you build Logic Apps that are modular, performant, easy to debug & maintain. In this session, we will discuss how to implement parallel executions, exception handling, retries, and advanced messaging patterns.
Where we’re going next
Serverless messaging means you can build a messaging solution in Azure leveraging Service Bus, Logic Apps, Functions, and Event Grid. Azure Event Grid, a centrally managed event service, Logic Apps a service enabling business flows reacting to messaging events, Functions delivering serverless compute, and the Service Bus offering a complete set of messaging, queueing and pub/sub. Combined these serverless capabilities in Azure gives us the power to unlock an unlimited variety of messaging solutions. In this session, we will go deep and provide you the various scenario's to demonstrate the value of Azure Serverless Messaging!
With the latest Feature Packs for BizTalk Server 2016 Microsoft has included a new way for us to package our BizTalk artifacts in a deployable application container. With it they have released guidance for how to use it with Visual Studio Team Services. But building automated deployment systems for BizTalk Server is not new. So what does this new thing do? What does it add? What does it include? Where does it fall short? And how can we extend it with our own functionality to create a more complete deployment system?
Abstract: The session will cover small pieces of stories with practical real examples from the field to address certain scenarios/requirements. See real techniques been used is some of the most important features of BizTalk Server, some of them are out-of-the-box capabilities others are custom extensions been made in the platform. Topics include BizTalk migration strategy, content-based routing techniques, Mapping, JSON support, BizTalk administration tips, extending BizTalk out-of-the-box capabilities and many more.
This session will highlight the benefits of using BizTalk Server on-premise as the backbone for Hybrid Integration. It will look at the workloads that work well in BizTalk Server and what could be off loaded to Azure in order to increase the effectiveness of BizTalk Server. This session will also look at some of the reasons why clients are hesitant on moving forward with Logic Apps and Azure solutions. Then we will look at some of the ways to overcome some of these fears and who in the company you need to have on your side in order to help sell Azure-based solutions.
Is this thing on? We all love cloud computing for its impressive scale, but high availability can be taken for granted. What does the cloud do for you, versus things you have to do yourself? How do you ensure that cloud-to-cloud or on-premises-to-cloud integrations are resilient? In this talk, Richard takes a tour through Microsoft Azure's integration-related service s and highlights the high availability and disaster recovery capabilities of each. Then, we'll look at sample architectures and see how to stitch these integration services together in a highly-available way.
Unexpected or adhoc processes which need to be managed by your DevOps team can be a drain on your teams capacity and ability to get their core work done. In this session Mike will show you an example of how the adoption of Microsoft Flow allowed the automation of some of these annoying tasks so they could be handed over to the front line support teams which frees up your team members to focus on higher value tasks.
BizTalk Server is at the core of Microsoft Hybrid Integration strategy. And a crucial part of that strategy is allowing cloud and external systems to interact with on-prem systems via BizTalk. Today there are many different ways to expose BizTalk, from Logic Apps front ends to API Management. So with this plethora of options, when to choose what? This talk aims to present the many options to expose BizTalk endpoints and provide some guidance of the pros and cons between options.
In this session we will examine the different layers of an enterprise digital architecture and discuss the varying types of integration models that work to connect those layers. For example, the Systems of Record may expose highly reusable APIs which are then consumed by the Systems of Engagement and the Systems of Insight layers. Each layer moves at different speeds and therefore has different requirements for ownership, release management, release cadence, governance, etc. Aside from discussing these aspects, the presentation will include a demo of a multi-layered integration solution which illustrates the different types of Microsoft integration technologies which are best suited for each layer (e.g. BizTalk Server vs. Microsoft Flow).
Modern applications work often reactive, based on a wide range of events. For that purpose, webhooks offer a simple and fast way to spin up processes, fired from these events. Learn how webhooks work, what responsibilities they bring to event publishers/consumers and how BizTalk deals with them. Discover the power of Azure Event Grid which provides an intelligent publish/subscribe event router and see that BizTalk nicely integrates with it. Expect architectural guidance and live demos.
BizTalk is a vital component in most of the integration landscapes of all enterprises, there are enormous amount of implementations and a lot of money invested in these solutions. We have seen how easy it is to connect Logic Apps to SaaS and how easy it is the create a Function to execute some code in the cloud but reality is that we need to combine cloud and On Premise resources to create a Hybrid Integration platform. This is where BizTalk takes a central role as enabler and core component. BizTalk can act as the bridge between cloud and On Premise making it possible to utilize the existing integrations in BizTalk. Let’s look at a customer case where we started easy and over time evolved the solution over time to enable a modern API landscape. Best of Breed with focus on reuse and refining existing integrations flow and connections.
