Hitchhiker's guide to integration with Microsoft Azure BizTalk Service

Microsoft Azure BizTalk Service (MABS) is almost available to us for year. It is a newcomer in the world of integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS) and promising contender for the sweet spot in the Gartner's Magic Quadrant. This service in Azure has a lot offer and can provide different means of integration in the changing IT world of on premise ERP systems, services, cloud and devices. In this session the audience will learn where the Microsoft Azure BizTalk Service stands in middle of the iPaaS world, what it has to offer today and what the road map will look like in the future. During the session, the audience will also see demo is showcasing the various service features from a development, deployment and operations perspective.

I am the head of Product Management for cloud computing provider CenturyLink (formerly Tier 3), a Microsoft MVP, blogger, author, Pluralsight trainer and frequent public speaker. I have spent the majority of my career working with organizations as they planned and implemented their enterprise software solutions. I worked first for two global IT consulting firms where I gained exposed to a diverse range of industries, technologies, and business challenges. Then, I joined Microsoft as a SOA/BPM technology specialist where my sole objective was to educate and collaborate with customers as they considered, designed, and built application integration solutions. I then accepted a job at biotechnology leader Amgen where I designed a wide range of global systems before becoming the lead architect of the R&D division. I then joined Tier 3 as a Senior Product Manager where I contributed to product strategy and development while actively collaborating with the cloud computing community.

Saravana is a Microsoft Integration MVP (previously called BizTalk Server MVP) since 2007. In year 2013, he was also awarded "Integration MVP of the Year 2013" by Microsoft. After getting frustrated seeing customers struggling with same challenges again and again when it comes to BizTalk sever administration and operations, in 2010 he started a pet project to address some of the challenges, which slowly turned out into full blown commercial product helping customers across the world. He is very active member in the BizTalk server community, you can see him often presenting at various BizTalk conferences, user groups etc. across Europe/America. His blog is very popular among the BizTalk community, attracting over 11,000 readers.

Top 10 features we added in BizTalk360 in 2014

BID Norway kind of became our inaugural place for introducing major versions. Last year we showcased version 7.0 to the public at BID, Norway. Since then we were constantly adding new features to the product and accelerated our development process. We worked on some exciting features like Graphical Message Flow, Throttling Analyzer, Business Rules Visualizer, Managed Services etc. Lot of these new features are designed in helping BizTalk customers to improve their support/operations/monitoring efficiency. In this presentation, Saravana Kumar will showcase the top 10 features we added since our last BID visit. We may be in a position to showcase some of the bits that's going to come in 8.0 planned for end of this year.

The new Transform Designer available in BizTalk Services

Migrating current BizTalk Server projects to BizTalk Services or starting new BizTalk Services projects can provide some challenges because although the developing experience is very similar, we are still talking about a new integration platform on Azure, and one of the main differences is the way we apply messages transformation with the new Transform Designer.

In this session, we will see the main differences between BizTalk Mapper Design (BizTalk Server) and the Transform Designer (BizTalk Services), and will address several other topics as:

• How can we migrate existing maps by using the BizTalk Map Migration Tool and what are the limitations?
• Can we use the existent maps in BizTalk Services projects?

However, mainly we address and explain how you can apply some common mapper problems, how the editor works, what are the functionalities and hopefully you will enhance new skills on BizTalk Services transformations

Tord is originally a developer but now focuses on BizTalk Administration and has done this for the past 6 years.
